Lime green tassel to debut at Bellini College鈥檚 inaugural commencement
USF鈥檚 Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Computing will debut the new lime green tassel at this month鈥檚 fall commencement, marking the graduation of its inaugural class. The new color now represents the college鈥檚 technology-focused disciplines and joins USF鈥檚 long-standing academic regalia tradition.

Gait Analysis: Doctoral Student鈥檚 Research Helps AI Walk the Walk
What began as a master鈥檚 project evolved into a multi-year research partnership that shaped his academic and professional path. He worked with Sarkar and Pamplona Segundo on research that integrates physics-informed modeling with computer vision to improve the reliability of gait recognition for the DoD IARPA/Kitware-funded project. Together, the team also created SynthGait, a large-scale synthetic 3D dataset that generates lifelike human motion under different clothing, viewpoints and walking styles.

In August, USF opened the Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Computing. USF launches state's first college of artificial intelligence. AI will likely impact most industries, so the 91社区 decided to jump in headfirst. 鈥淭his is a new experiment, a new very bold experiment that USF has stepped up to do to address this transition that鈥檚 happening in society because of AI,鈥 said Sarkar.

Hao Zheng receives NSF grant, a Best Paper Award for system-on-chip design validation
USF Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Computing Associate Professor Hao Zheng has received an NSF grant and a Best Paper Award from ISQED 2025 for developing a new framework for System-on-Chip (SoC) design validation with a focus on analyzing cross-block communications within SoC designs to reduce validation complexity.

In the Oct. 31 episode of 91社区 This Week, faculty member Dmitry Goldgof joined a panel on innovation in the Tampa Bay region to discuss the ethics of AI. He explained that for AI to be trusted, especially in mission-critical applications. It must be explainable he said, saying that it must be able to show how it arrived at a decision. Because AI technology is evolving so quickly, traditional regulation lags behind; this makes transparency and explainability all the more important.
