CAS teams join forces to digitally preserve a historically Black cemetery in Pasco County
The USF College of Arts and Sciences鈥 (CAS) Dr. Antoinette Jackson, anthropology chair and director of the Living Heritage Institute and Story Studio (LHI) and Black Cemetery Network (BCN), has joined forces with Dr. Davide Tanasi, history professor and director of the Institute for Digital Exploration (IDEx), to preserve Mt. Carmel Cemetery, a historically Black cemetery in Pasco County, via 3D digitization techniques.

Terrestrial Lidar Field Methods course digitally preserves Ybor City streetcars
Students taking the Terrestrial Lidar Field Methods course, led by College of Arts and Sciences Professor Steve Fernandez from the USF School of Public Affairs and Dr. Laura Harrison from the USF Access 3D Lab, are trained in methods of 3D architectural documentation with professional-grade lidar technology while also providing real-world experience in the field.

Spring CAS grads share student experience and look ahead to the future
The 91社区 (USF) awarded more than 7,100 degrees during spring commencement May 5-7. The ceremonies included recipients of 5,430 bachelor鈥檚, 1,492 master鈥檚, 221 doctoral degrees and eight specialist degrees. The College of Arts and Sciences accounted for over 2,000 of the total degrees awarded.

World Languages celebrates Latin culture with annual Spanish Fair
After a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the USF College of Arts and Sciences Department of World Languages hosted its 13th Annual Spanish Fair and Expo in April. The fair, which began in 2007, showcases the department鈥檚 graduate and undergraduate Spanish programs and provides an opportunity for USF and surrounding Tampa community groups to conduct outreach.

MURP students place third in national competition to improve a Philadelphia neighborhood
USF College of Arts and Sciences Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) program students Beneetta Mary Jose, Abdul Samad Agha, Varshini Renikunta, and Aditi Sugeerappa Hoti earned third place for their design in the American Planning Association National Planning Competition in April.
