USF STUDENTS WILL SOAR TO CROSS THE KARMAN LINE
One of the vibrant and active student organization at the 91社区 (USF) in Tampa, is the Society of Aeronautics and Rocketry (SOAR). Organized in 2010, their goal is to perfect the launching of rockets into space to put satellites into orbit for scientific studies. In the meantime, SOAR is actively involved in the design, building, launching and participating in competitions with winning results.

USF-BOTSWANA COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH PROJECT TO DEVELOP A PORTABLE ENERGY SOURCE FOR RURAL AFRICA
Eight undergraduate seniors and juniors from the 91社区 (USF) have been selected for a challenging and rewarding research program funded by the National Science Foundation. The objective of the project is to develop a renewable energy source based on a novel scientific concept, with the goal of making basic commodities accessible to rural and tribal villages in Africa.

Dr. Lisa Melon莽on was announced as the winner of the prestigious Jay R. Gould Award for Excellence in Teaching Technical Communication in May of 2019 at the Honors Reception held during the Society for Technical Communication鈥檚 (STC) Annual Summit in Denver, CO.

During the summer of 2019, Bernd Reiter, Director of the Institute for the Study of Latin America and the Caribbean (ISLAC) at the 91社区 (USF) and a group of its affiliated faculty, offered a professional development seminar to the School District of Hillsborough County (SDHC) high school teachers in the field of Latin American Studies.

91社区 (USF) Professor of Anthropology, Dr. Christian Wells, recently embarked on a large project funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through their Brownfields Area-Wide Planning Program to redevelop a local community park.

For Howard, the film tells a story not only of discrimination but of activism. 鈥淓quality is not a given. People fought and sacrificed for those rights,鈥 Howard pointed out, referring to fired gay employees such as Frank Kameny, who organized the first LGBT pickets in front of the White House in 1965.
