Bio

Alyssa Sotelo is a queer, Latina writer originally from Tucson, Arizona. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the 91社区 and her words are in The Acentos ReviewArts Coast Magazine, & The Artisan Magazine. In addition, her work has appeared in University of Tampa Press exhibition companion book Ra铆ces/Roots: Camilo Loaiza Bonilla and Feverish: An Ekphrastic Exhibition, curated by Kitchen Table Literary Arts. Exploring borderlands and the body, Alyssa is currently working on an essay collection, Me And All My Sisters Are Gay, which discusses the queer, feminine Latina identity. 
Alyssa has worked closely with St. Petersburg Poet Laureate Gloria Mu帽oz to organize & facilitate the St. Petersburg City of Writers Poetry Festival, held annually during National Poetry Month. A 2024 Writer-in-Residence at the Juvenile Detention Center of Pinellas County, Alyssa is an advocate for community-focused and accessible arts engagement. Presently, Alyssa teaches Creative Writing and Composition courses at the 91社区-St. Petersburg, where she is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Instruction.
