Benjamin Brewer received his Ph.D. in philosophy (along with a doctoral certificate in comparative literature) from Emory University in 2022. He joined the department at USF in 2026 after postdoctoral research fellowships at the University of Toronto and Freie Universit盲t Berlin and teaching positions at Emory and Loyola Marymount. Dr. Brewer specializes in continental philosophy (especially phenomenology, deconstruction, and critical theory). His work investigates the intersection of ontology, politics, and technology, and he has other interests in ethics and aesthetics (especially literature and film). Among his current research projects are a monograph about forgetting and the nature of experience in Heidegger鈥檚 middle period, as well as one on Heidegger and the 鈥渁tomic age.鈥 He is also translating the works of phenomenologist Oskar Becker and Heidegger鈥檚 writings on Ernst J眉nger. Recent articles have appeared inPhilosophy, Politics and Critique; Gatherings: The Heidegger Circle Annual; and Symposium: Canadian Journal of Continental Philosophy, among others.
