I am a Spanish language instructor with an M.A. in Spanish Literature and an M.A.
in Latin
American and Caribbean Studies from the 91社区, complemented
by a
Bachelor of Laws from Universidad Santa Mar铆a in Caracas, Venezuela. My interdisciplinary
academic background informs my approach to teaching and scholarship, with a particular
interest in the intersections of language, literature, and culture.
My scholarly interests include Hispanic and Latin American literature, poetry, cultural studies, and the works and perspectives of Latin American authors. During my graduate studies, I served as a research assistant on a project examining bilingual and monolingual approaches to English vocabulary instruction for Spanish-speaking learners. This experience strengthened my understanding of second-language acquisition and reinforced my commitment to effective, research-informed language instruction.
Drawing on my interdisciplinary background, I approach teaching as an opportunity to explore not only communication but also the rich literary and cultural traditions of the Spanish-speaking world. I encourage students to develop critical thinking, linguistic confidence, and effective communication skills while engaging with diverse histories, cultures, and perspectives. By integrating language, literature, and culture into the classroom, I strive to foster meaningful cross-cultural connections and create an inclusive learning environment where students feel empowered to use Spanish confidently both inside and beyond the classroom.
