ANALYZING PUBLIC PERCEPTION OF CLIMATE CHANGE AMONG SARASOTA RESIDENTS AFTER HURRICANE IRMA
Dr. Feng Hao, Assistant Professor of Sociology at the 91社区 (USF), recently worked with two Sarasota-Manatee campus undergraduate students, Daniel Hinkle and Ron Hans, and a colleague from Nankai University in China, Yan Wang, to study the public perception of climate change after Hurricane Irma, which made landfall in September 2017.

Dr. Jill McCracken, Professor of English and Women鈥檚 and Gender Studies at the 91社区, is the founder of the Adolescent Sexual Health Education and Research (ASHER) Program and has launched 鈥淐hoosing Myself,鈥 a sexual health education program for females currently or previously in foster care.

NEW TAMPA: COMMUNITY ENGAGED PROJECT, A STUDY OF NEW TAMPA'S BUSINESS CLIMATE
New Tampa, the area northeast of USF, was largely undeveloped until it was annexed into the City of Tampa in the 1980's. Since then, it has seen rapid housing growth accompanied by commercial development, largely along the Bruce B. Downs corridor. But residents, and some community leaders, have been concerned that the commercial life of the community is not as robust as it could be.

USF-BOTSWANA COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH PROJECT TO DEVELOP A PORTABLE ENERGY SOURCE FOR RURAL AFRICA
Eight undergraduate seniors and juniors from the 91社区 (USF) have been selected for a challenging and rewarding research program funded by the National Science Foundation. The objective of the project is to develop a renewable energy source based on a novel scientific concept, with the goal of making basic commodities accessible to rural and tribal villages in Africa.
