Sandy Bond

Sandy Bond is the interim director of the Real Estate Center at the University of South 91社区鈥檚 Muma College of Business, where she will be leading program development and industry engagement working alongside the USF Real Estate Center Advisory Board. Additionally, Bond is a professor of real estate and teaches courses in real estate appraisal, development and investments.

Prior to coming to USF in 2026, Bond was a professor of practice in real estate and led the Real Estate Program at Bucknell University, a donor driven initiative that began in 2015. A Real Estate Advisory Board (REAB) was formed to support the program through an endowment. Real estate was the first discipline-specific minor in the Freeman College of Management. The program comprises a real estate minor, a mentorship program, a student-led Real Estate Club that Bond advised, and experiential learning activities that included field trips, networking opportunities with alumni, and ARGUS software training. She worked closely with the REAB to develop internships and career opportunities for students and collaborated with university advancement to enhance program funding. In 2025, she completed the first strategic plan for the real estate program that serves as a roadmap to ensure the program effectively integrates practical business skills with a broad-based liberal arts education. Its purpose is to define the program's vision, ensure institutional alignment, and detail actionable steps for long-term success and relevance in a competitive academic market.

Previously, Bond was the Director of the Real Estate and Land Use Institute at California State University, Fullerton. Her main areas of professional practice and teaching are in valuation (appraisal), real estate market analysis, and sustainability for the built environment.^[1] She has taught and developed undergraduate and postgraduate courses (at the bachelors, diploma, master鈥檚 and PhD levels) in real estate within NZ, Australia and the USA.

Bond earned her PhD in real estate from Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Western Australia aided by winning the competitive Pro Vice-Chancellor鈥檚 International Doctoral Fellowship from Massey University and the Curtin University Divisional Postgraduate Award. She holds a master鈥檚, postgraduate diploma and bachelor鈥檚 degrees in real estate from Massey University in New Zealand.

Service

Bond has been a leader in the real estate education and research arena both within New Zealand and internationally as evidenced by her service roles as both President, Secretary and Newsletter Editor of the Pacific Rim Real Estate Society (PRRES), President, Secretary, Newsletter Editor and Board member of the International Real Estate Society (IRES), and as an Editorial Board member of the Journal of Sustainable Real Estate (from July 2020). She was awarded the IRES Service Award in 2016 for 鈥渙utstanding services to the Pacific Rim Real Estate Society and International Real Estate Society鈥�, and the PRRES Achievement Award in 2010 for 鈥渃ontribution to property education and research in the Pacific-Rim region鈥�.
