Sung-Yuan (Mark) Cheng is an assistant professor in the Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy. His research examines how information affects capital-market behavior and has been published in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies, and the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy. His work has been cited by the Securities and Exchange Commission and featured in outlets such as The Economist and Fortune.
Cheng earned his PhD in business administration (accounting) from the University of Kentucky, where he also taught financial accounting and accounting information systems. He holds a master's degree in professional accounting from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor's degree in finance from National Taiwan University. A licensed Certified Public Accountant, Cheng spent several years in assurance services with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Taipei.
Cheng is an active participant in the academic community, presenting and contributing at conferences such as the AAA Annual Meeting and the FARS Midyear Meeting, as well as other workshops and symposia. He has served as a reviewer for academic journals and as a discussant at conferences.
