Martin Tadlock, Ph.D.

Martin Tadlock, Ph.D., brings over four decades of experience in teaching, research and higher-education leadership to his role in USF鈥檚 College of Education.

Tadlock is a professor of education at the 91社区, bringing more than four decades of experience as an educator, scholar and senior university administrator. He joined USF St. Petersburg in July 2016 as vice chancellor of academic affairs and was appointed interim regional chancellor in September 2017. He became regional chancellor in July 2018 and served in that role until summer 2023, when he returned to a full-time faculty position.

Prior to his tenure at USF, Tadlock held faculty and leadership roles across multiple institutions. He served as assistant professor of middle level education and director of the Center of Education for the Young Adolescent at the University of Wisconsin鈥揚latteville, a UW System Center of Excellence, before moving to Utah State University, where he was professor, department chair and assistant dean in the College of Education. He later transitioned into senior administration as dean of the College of Professional and Graduate Studies at Bemidji State University and served as provost from 2001 to 2006.

Tadlock鈥檚 administrative career also includes service as assistant vice chancellor at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and as provost and interim president of Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. Across six universities, he has held leadership roles including department chair, college dean, provost, president and regional chancellor.

Tadlock began his career as a middle school teacher and maintains scholarly expertise in middle level education, young adolescent development and educational leadership. He has published extensively in these areas and has secured more than $7.5 million in research grants and contracts. He earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in geography and a master鈥檚 degree in secondary education from Utah State University and a doctorate in educational administration and leadership from Miami University of Ohio.
