What the Senate Does

Represent Students: The Senate comprises 40 elected senators representing students from the Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota-Manatee campuses. Senators serve as the voice of the student body and work to bring student concerns and ideas to university leadership.
Allocate Student Fees: Each year, the Senate allocates more than $17 million in Activity and Service (A&S) Fees to support campus programs, student services, and our over 600 registered student organizations.
Pass Legislation: Senators write and vote on statutes, resolutions, and constitutional amendments that govern Student Government and guide various campus initiatives.
Oversight and Appointments: The Senate confirms executive appointments, reviews major initiatives, and ensures ethical standards within Student Government operations.
