Staying Connected

While students are responsible for managing many aspects of their university experience, families often want to better understand the processes and policies that impact their student鈥檚 academic and financial journey. The resources below can help families become more informed and better support their student throughout their time at USF.

Parent & Family BULLetin

Family members of students from any campus can stay informed about campus updates, support services, upcoming events and deadlines, family-specific resources and education, and more through the Parent & Family Bulletin.

Important Dates & Deadlines

Because dates are subject to change due to interdependence, below is the most up-to-the-minute edition maintained by the Office of the Registrar. Critical dates such as term start and end, registration periods and school holidays are updated when changes occur.

Third Party Proxy & FERPA

FERPA protects the privacy of student educational records, so universities cannot automatically share academic or financial information with families. Students can grant access using Third Party Proxy in Student Self-Service, allowing designated family members to view specific information while maintaining the student鈥檚 privacy.

Financial Aid Processes

Understanding financial aid helps families support students with tuition, scholarships, and deadlines. The Financial Aid Application Guide outlines how students submit their applications and what information is required. Families can also use the Financial Aid Checklist to track key tasks and ensure aid is processed successfully each semester.

Student Ombuds Office

The Student Ombuds Office is a confidential, impartial resource that helps students address concerns, conflicts, or questions related to university policy and procedures. An ombudsman serves as a neutral third party who can help students explore options, resolve disputes, and better understand available resources. Families can encourage students to reach out to the Ombuds Office if they are unsure where to go for help or need guidance navigating
